A commemorative event entitled "Victory for Khojaly" was held at the Customs Academy

On February 25, the Academy of the State Customs Committee hosted a commemorative event entitled "Victory for Khojaly" dedicated to the 26th of February - the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. The event was attended by the management, staff, students of the Academy, the Chief of the Department of Social Innovations and Analytical Study of the State Customs Committee Vugar Aliyev, the members of the volunteer customs team, as well as the representatives of the families of martyrs and veterans of the Great Patriotic War invited as guests.  Before the event, the participants got acquainted with the art exhibition called  "Image of Oppression" organized by the  students, reflecting the Khojaly genocide. The head of the academy Gulu Novruzov informed the participants of the event about the exhibition consisting of paintings and drawings made by the students.

 At the event, which began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the dear memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide and all the martyrs who died for the independence and territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence. 

Welcoming the guests, the head of the Academy, Major General of the Customs Service Gulu Novruzov made an introductory speech at the event, noting that this year the memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated with pride, along with feelings of grief and sorrow. Speaking about the realities of Khojaly, G. Novruzov said that the Khojaly genocide, which entered the history of Azerbaijan 30 years ago as one of the most terrible and tragic pages, would leave an indelible mark on the history of mankind as an act of mass terror and this tragedy will not be forgotten throughout the history. Stating that the historical, political and legal assessment of the Khojaly genocide was connected with the name of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, the head of the academy stressed that the true nature and the perpetrators of the tragedy had been identified due to the resoluteness of the great personality.

G.Novruzov brought to the attention of the participants that the blood of all our martyrs, including the victims of Khojaly, did not remain on the ground with the liberation of our lands from occupation and the waving of our tricolor flag in native Karabakh within the 44-day Patriotic War due to the "Iron Fist" operation, under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr.Ilham Aliyev, a worthy successor of the political course of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Stating that young people have a great responsibility for introducing the realities of Azerbaijan to the world, the head of the Academy advised young people to study the historical realities of our country deeply and work hard for the development of our independent state.

At the end of his speech, Gulu Novruzov said that the memory of Khojaly victims is always commemorated  with great respect and wished mercy for all our martyrs and healing for our veterans.

Then Huseyn Huseynzadeh, a second-year student of the Academy majoring in the International Trade and Logistics, as well as chairman of the Student Scientific Society, spoke about the crimes and massacres committed by the Armenians against the Azerbaijani people within centuries. He said that in the result of the 44-day Patriotic War, like all our martyrs, for the Khojaly martyrs were taken revenge. H. Huseynzadeh spoke about a series of events held at the Academy with the purpose of instilling the spirit of patriotism, noting that one of the main goals of the Academy is to bring up the citizens committed to national and moral values and loyal to the history of the Azerbaijani people, as well. Emphasizing the active participation of the Academy's students in the information war in the struggle for the motherland, Huseyn Huseynzadeh stressed that the State Customs Committee has special services in this direction. The sophomore of the academy also spoke about the material and moral support of the State Customs Committee to the families of martyrs and veterans.

Then the event continued with a literary and musical composition performed by the students of the Academy. At the end, the event, greeted with great impression by the participants concluded with the sound of the slogan “Karabakh is Azerbaijan!”
